You can now create and manage automations through AI agents connected to Airtable's MCP server. Connect Airtable to an assistant like Claude or ChatGPT, describe the automation you want in plain language, and your agent builds it for you — no clicking through the editor step by step. This is a big step up from what agents could do before. They can now build genuinely complex automations, not just simple ones. What your agent can do: Create automations, including conditional and repeating groups — even nested ones Set field values across most triggers and action types Use the full set of dynamic token functions (such as Uppercase and Trim) List, read, update, and delete your existing automations Fully Supported triggers: When a record is created When a record is updated When a record matches conditions At a scheduled time When a form is submitted When a record enters a view Fully Supported actions: Create record Update record Find records Send email Send to Slack, Gmail, Outlook AI-generated text AI-generated structured output A few things to know: You stay in control. Agents can build and edit automations, but turning one on or off happens in the editor, so nothing runs until you say so. New automations start paused.
