Microsoft Teams performance guidelines

Reference thresholds for real-time media quality.

Microsoft recommends the following network performance thresholds for optimal Teams experience:

Latency (RTT)

Excellent:< 100ms
Good:100-200ms
Acceptable:200-300ms
Poor:> 300ms

Round-trip time. One-way latency should be < 50ms for excellent quality.

Jitter

Excellent:< 15ms
Good:15-20ms
Acceptable:20-30ms
Poor:> 30ms

Packet inter-arrival variation. > 30ms is problematic for real-time media.

Packet Loss

Excellent:< 0.1%
Good:0.1-0.5%
Acceptable:0.5-1.0%
Poor:> 1.0%

Average packet loss. Burst loss should be < 10% during any 200ms interval.

Note: For optimal real-time media quality, Microsoft recommends latency < 100ms, jitter < 15ms, and packet loss < 0.1%. Network performance above these thresholds may result in audio/video quality degradation, dropped calls, or connection issues.
